Salina is known as the Green Island, dominated by two extinct volcanic cones that form a protected natural reserve, covering an area of 1521 hectares. Its mountains offer a network of hiking trails that allow you to discover breathtaking landscapes, both on foot and by bike.
Mount Fossa delle Felci, the highest in the entire archipelago at 962 metres, is a paradise for nature lovers. Along its slopes, the vegetation ranges from lush Mediterranean scrub to pine, oak, and chestnut forests. During spring, the crater is covered with a sea of ferns, from which it takes its name. Mount Porri, about 860 metres high, is characterised by wilder landscapes, with volcanic rocks and scattered shrubs.
Salina offers an extensive network of hiking trails that traverse these mountains, ideal for birdwatching and nature lovers in general. The hills and plains, where the inhabited centres are located, are mainly cultivated with vines, enriching the landscape with rows of Malvasia grapes and caper plants.
